Airedale Terrier Facts
Airedale Terrier facts and opinion. Is the Airedale Terrier the ideal dog?
The Airedale Terrier gets its name from the Aire River valley, or dale, in Yorkshire where it was first bred. It was developed by crossing the Welsh terrier with the Otterhound in the mid-19th century to hunt otters and other rodents. Hounds and terriers were the dogs of choice on hunting trips in those days in England. Hounds would smell and pursue the animals, while terriers would burrow into the holes and make the final kill. Demand arose for a dog that combined the best of both the breeds, and the Airedale was born. Its talents at hunting are reflected in its strength, cleverness and boldness. It is also known as Bingley Terrier or Waterside Terrier, the latter because of its strong hunting skills across water bodies. Read more

Arizona Larger Airedale Terrier – Teddy the Mountain Airedale
Teddy is my larger Arizona Airedale Terrier, he will be two in a few weeks.
Besides mountain trail hikes, for exercise and socialization, I take Teddy to local off leash dog barks here in Peoria Arizona.
Naturally, one must exercise caution when taking their dogs off leash parks and also only do so if your dog is up-to-date on all their vaccinations. The larger Airedale Terriers need a lot of exercise and also do not like high temperatures. So, be sure to take your dog early in the morning or later in the evening, and most importantly, be sure to bring plenty of water for them.
Airedales are truly one of a kind! Long love the King! Yes, the Airedale Terriers are lovely-natured charismatic dogs and really affectionate too! Plus, the Airedale is VERY smart and fun loving! Read more

Just two months ago we moved from San Diego California to Peoria Arizona. So, how did Annie (apx 6Yrs old) and Teddy (21 Mos old) handle the move and their new home?
Annie and Teddy my two large mountain Airedales made the big move if it with us, from San Diego California, to Peoria Arizona during the first week of November 2020.
They did well on the long 5 1/2 hour car trip and love exploring their new house and yard. Our house is about 25 years newer than our San Diego home, and the yard is much larger as well.
There is no doubt whatsoever that Annie and Teddy really love their new home. They seem to be playing and interacting much more with each other, than they were in San Diego. Read more
