This has got to be one of the largest Airedale Terriers that I’ve ever seen.
When this picture was taken the Airedale Terrier was just 26 months old, and weighed a whopping 138 lb. Yes, just a typical lap dog!

For a little reference the person pictured in the photo, stands 5 ft 8 in tall!
The Oorang Airedale is a type of Airedale Terrier that was bred in the early 1900s by a man named Walter Lingo, who owned a hunting lodge in Ohio. Lingo was a fan of big game hunting and wanted to create a larger, more robust Airedale Terrier that could keep up with his hunting dogs and assist in hunting large game, such as bear and mountain lion.
To achieve his goal, Lingo selectively bred Airedale Terriers with other breeds, such as the Irish Wolfhound and the Otterhound, which are known for their size and strength. The resulting dogs were much larger than standard Airedales, with some weighing over 100 pounds.
While the Oorang Airedale was never recognized as a separate breed by the American Kennel Club (AKC), it was popular among hunters and sportsmen in the early 1900s, and some breeders continue to produce Oorang-type Airedales today. However, it is important to note that the Oorang Airedale is not a recognized breed. It is always important to research breeders carefully and choose a dog that is a good fit for your lifestyle and living situation.
