Larger Airedale Terriers 360° Video Hike

Larger Airedale Terriers 360°

My two larger Airedales Annie and Teddy at the San Diego river where it goes through Mission Trails Regional Park.

Mission Trails Regional Park is about 5,700 acres and the largest regional park west of the Mississippi.

The river is not very wide here and in the summer, there is usually no water. This video was taken just after our Thanksgiving large rain storm and so there was quite a lot of water in the river and it was flowing quite fast. Read more

San Diego Larger Airedale Terrier

Many consider the larger Airedale Terrier the ideal dog. These larger Airedales are known as Oorang Airedales, Mountain Airedales and just larger Airedale Terriers.

The best of these larger Airedales are AKC registered, but, because they exceed the currently recognized Airedale Terrier breed standards, they cannot be entered into any AKC sanctioned events. Read more

week old Airedale terriers

One week old Airedale terriers

1 week old Airedale puppies

1 week old Airedale puppies

Yes, yesterday afternoon to be precise, Annie’s pups and Annie celebrated the pups one week old birthday.

Airedale Terrier Annie & 1 week old birthday party

Also, I’d like to report that Annie is now back on 100% all-natural feeding schedule. Sometimes she might feed for just 50 minutes and at other times it’s gone over 2 1/2 hours. On the big feeding schedules, the puppies are usually snoozed out for three to over four hours before it’s time to eat again! Read more

Large Airedale Breeder Interview

Large Airedale Breeder

This is an interview with a breeder of a large Airedale Terriers. Most of the Airedale terriers at this breeders facility range from about 50 pounds on the low side to 122 pounds! Sorry about the sound quality, the camera picked up the motor noise of the gimbal that I was using, and I just couldn’t get it out of the audio track.

These Airedale terriers are way over the AKC standards for the Airedale line. This means that you would not be able to enter these large Airedale Terriers in any AKC sanctioned dog show. Now, with that said from having owned both the regular Airedale Terriers and the larger (sometimes called Oorang Airedales or Mountain Airedales) Airedales, I think the larger Airedale is the ideal size Airedale. Large Airedale Terrier Breeder

A visit to a Large Airedale Terrier Breeder

Visiting a breeder of the larger Airedale Terriers

Large Airedale Terrier Breeder

Some years ago, I visited our breeder of the larger Airedales in California. Now, just a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be in a position to visit an out-of-state breeder of these larger Airedale Terriers. I should say, that I’ve owned for Airedale terriers, and three of them were the normal AKC breed standard variety.

Then I was lucky enough to find out about the larger Airedale Terriers which are also known as mountain Airedales or Oorang Airedale Terriers. Oakley,my past large Airedale Terrier was 99 pounds and substantially larger in both stature and weight then the breed standard. Read more

Smart Airedale Terrier

One Smart Airedale Terrier

This smart Airedal Terrier is bound and determined to keep her treasure. She found it, and she’s keepiin’ it! Airedales are problem solvers, and she figures out how to get it thru her doggie door.

What great dogs! I’m on my fourth Airedale. The thing I really like about this video is that at the end I swear she seems to be contemplating and thinking about how she’s going to solve this problem and then she comes up with a solution by grabbing the Styrofoam by the side instead of in the middle. I mean you can tell that she didn’t accidentally solve the problem but she figure it out in her head how to solve the problem. Read more

Airedale Terrier Training

Training your Airedale – Airedale Terrier Training

Does your dog listen to commands outside, off leash, under distraction, in the presence of other dogs? Does your dog pull you down the street to meet an approaching pedestrian? Most dog owners never know the joy of a well trained dog, even though many go through training programs.

Airdales love the bush and being real dogs , I have had them for years , your right about not being over handled , very independent dog , but loyal , bloody naughty though ,,,personally wouldn’t own one in a city as they love being in the mix of stuff , not a excessory to ones hand bag , or brat kids , let them be what they are breed for , in the country on the back of trucks with their owner all day , not doggy daycare bullshit! Mountain Airedales Kissing

Mountain Airedales Kissing – Annie & Oakley

In this video it looks like Oakley is kissing Annie. Actually, Annie occasionally has goopy eyes and on this occasion Oakley noticed this and just decided to assist Annie in her grooming.

We’ve had both of these Oorang Airedales (aka Mountain Airedales), since they were eight weeks old! Even though there is a big weight difference, because of their great personalities they get along fabulously. Annie still has all her puppy energy while Oakley at 10 years old is much more mellow. Russian Airedale Terriers

Russian Airedale Terriers

Who would think that the Airedale Terrier which has its origins in England would be popular in Russia? bbut, from this video it certainly looks like Russians can appreciate all the qualities of the Airedale Terrier.

The Airedale is indeed the largest of all terriers. The Airedale breed originated in the Aire Valley of Yorkshire, and was created to catch otters and rats in the region between the Aire and Wharfe Rivers. The Airedale became an ideal working dog, proving his worth during World War I. Intelligent, outgoing, and confident, the Airedale Terrier possesses a wonderful playful streak that delights his owners.
