Airedale terrier is a good family dog and will interact well with children of all ages.  Also, the Airedale Terrier is a working dog, and has the energy and stamina that goes with it.


The Airedale Terrier will be a good companion dog to a non-dominant breed but two dominant type breeds will fight. The Airedale Terrier is known for his independence, patience, loyalty and courage. Airedale Terriers are not known for extreme shedding, but does shed certain times of the year.  They are very loyal, and can be a joy to own, but can be difficult at times.  Airedales can be a quick learners, but  is often stubborn and unforgiving of harsh treatment.  They will learn good habits as well as bad and this can sometimes be challenging to correct.

The Airedale Terrier is the largest of the terriers and stands square in appearance.  The Oorang Airedale or Mountain Airedale, as shown in our videos, is the largest of the Airedales, with males running up to the 110 pounds or more!

The Airedale Terrier is patient with children and tolerant of other household animals.  They were first brought to North America in the 1880’s.  The Airedale has a life span of 10-13 years and litters of 5-12 puppies.
