Dog and Otter

Dog and Otter playing

Every evening a river otter comes to play with dog!

A friend can come from the most unexpected places. And although we may be different a true friend doesn’t care or judge based on looks, size, color or shape. There just glad to have you around no matter what….. Great Video Proof of this fact.

The above is the consensus opinion, but, here’s a more realistic opinion of what this shows:

Anyone who thinks that otter was playing is naive. He was obviously trying to lure that dog into the water where the rest of the otter pack was waiting to ambush and eat him. Otters are apex predators and the dog owner was VERY careless to let this go on. Keep your animals away from otters, people! I for one never go near a river without my .45 or at least a canister of otter spray.

It might look cute, but as it is a wild animal I wanted to find out more and found a disturbing newspaper Vancouver Sun article from 2005 where it states that the otters have led different animals, even big ones into the water and drowned them. Yikes not so cute after all…
City folks would sidle up to a grizzly if it acted playful for a moment. Otters mean business
