The Airedale Terrier is known as the King Of Terriers. It is undoubtedly the largest of all terrier breeds. Along with it’s majestic looks, the Airedale is an elite working dog. The breed excels at hunting small and medium game.Originating in England the Airedale was originally used to hunt otter and other small rodents.

The Airedale Terrier does not require a lot of grooming, although most owners do choose to have their Airedale professionally groomed, three to four times a year. The Airedale Terrier is not known for extreme shedding, but he does shed certain times of the year. Regular brushing, once or twice a week, keeps the coat in good condition. Periodic bathing, as needed is suggested but be careful, over-bathing is not recommended, as this will soften their coarse terrier coat.
The Airedale breed has tremendous energy, temperament becomes of the utmost importance. A dog’s temperament is affected by a number of factors, including genetics, obedience training, and socialization. Puppies with nice temperaments are curious and playful, willing to approach people and be held by them. Choose the middle-of-the-road puppy, not the one who’s beating up his litter-mates or the one who’s hiding in the corner.
Typically a purebred AKC Airedale puppy like these goes for about $1500-$2500. The breeder tells me that they are offering these puppies for just $1250.

After the First World War, the Airedales’ popularity rapidly increased thanks to stories of their bravery on the battlefield and also because Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, and Warren Harding owned Airedales. President Harding’s Airedale, Laddie Boy, was the “first celebrity White House pet”. President Harding had a special chair hand carved for him to sit on at very important Cabinet meetings. In the 1920s, the Airedale became the most popular breed in the USA.
We are looking for an Airedale puppy. When will you have a litter available? We think we would prefer a female puppy. We believe that a female has a better temperament. This will be a pet and we have no wish to breed.
We are very experienced owning Airedales. I have owned 5 Airedales in the past. We live on 10 acres in Ashland, VA So our pets have plenty of land to run around on. Although, we do not allow them free reign unaccompanied. Our house is set up with a dog door through the laundry room wall to an outdoor pen, in case they have to be left alone during the day.
